Quantor company in cooperation with the Russian satellite connection operator Iridium «Geyser Telecom» introduced a next personal autonomous satellite communicator-tracker combining functions of GPS-tracker and satellite pager Shout TS (Touch Screen) into the system.
Shout TS (Touch Screen) - ) is a personal autonomous satellite communicator-tracker combining functions of GPS-tracker and satellite pager. The main function of the device is based on transmitting current data received from GPS satellites. The data with coordinates is transmitted via special protocol - SBD (Short Burst Data) which is used in the satellite net Iridium for minor volume data. Also, SBD-service provides with a possibility of sending SOS signal to an address chosen beforehand (by pressing SOS button), as well as sending and receiving short texts. Shout TS has a touch screen, which greatly simplifies settings, viewing and texting. The main requirement for the reliable operation of the device, as well as for all satellite equipment, is the open sky. In the upper corner of the screen there is indication of the level of signals from satellites, Iridium and GPS; to send the coordinates one needs signals from both systems. The required number of messages sent to the server can vary from 1 minute to 1 day, and is user-configurable individually. The minimum size of the data packet containing only geographical coordinates, is 10 bytes, and the estimated cost of the SBD-service system Iridium is about $ 2 per 1kbayt. In other words, sending messages every minute of their location during the day will cost a tracker user around $ 30.
